Please use one of the opportunities listed below to hear how Iowans are finding hope and healing in their lives through LSI’s programs.

  • “Shared Ministry Sunday” presentation: a Sunday morning temple talk or sermon
  • Adult forum: dialogue with adults during the Sunday School hour (encouraged to be in addition to a temple talk or sermon
  • Specialized program: presentation at a group event or meeting (could include WELCA, LMM, youth event, pastor’s group conference meeting, etc.)

Barnabas Uplift
"Barnabas Uplift" is the name given to a collection of initiatives created for people in Iowa by the three synods of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and several partners. The name Barnabas honors a member of the second set of Apostles, Joseph, nicknamed "Barnabas," which means "son of encouragement." The title reflects the program's emphasis on encouraging individuals and communities to use their God-given resources to lift themselves out of poverty.

Barnabas Uplift provides opportunities for individuals to create their own relief by starting careers, small businesses, providing affordable access to health care and creating an environment of awareness in our communities to fight drug abuse. LSI helps connect Barnabas Uplift to other social service programs and provides funding and staff to support the program. To learn more, visit www.barnabasuplift.org.

LSI has helped with such disasters as the Bradgate tornado, Elkport/Garber flooding, etc. For more information, contact Pastor Michael Stadie at 563-322-7419 or michael.stadie@lsiowa.org.
